Kapitel 3

At noon they go out
91
and take a bus to the city centre.
92
It’s not far from the hotel,
93
and it takes only fifteen minutes by bus.
94
On the way they see many interesting things:
95
A boy and a girl playing with a toy train in the street,
96
an old woman selling fish on a table in an open market square,
97
a police officer sleeping in the sun
98
beside his bicycle on the green grass,
99
a horse standing in the middle of the road,
100
a cat with a dead mouse in its mouth,
101
and a beautiful yellow church on top of a high hill.
102
They thank the driver and get off the bus.
103
Peter has a map of the city.
104
They walk to the eastern part
105
and rest for a while in a small park.
106
They hear birds singing in the trees.
107
Peter sees a short young man in black clothes reading a newspaper.
108
The man looks at him and starts talking to him.
109
Mr. Y: “Good day. Can I sit and talk with you?
110
My name is Mister Yamaha.
111
What is your name?”
112
Peter: “Hello. I’m Peter Johnson.
113
Where do you come from?”
114
Mr. Y: “I come from Japan.
115
How about yourself?”
116
Peter: “I come from England.
117
What brings you here?”
118
Mr. Y: “I am here to learn English.
119
English is not an easy language.
120
I believe it is a difficult language,
121
so please speak slowly and clearly.”
122
Peter: “Okay. It’s very nice to meet you.
123
How long are you here for?”
124
Mr. Y: “We came yesterday
125
and we will go home next Friday.”
126
Peter: “Oh, then you are not here alone.”
127
Mr. Y: “No, I am here with my wife.
128
We always travel together.
129
She is in that shop.
130
Do you know where the hospital is?
131
Peter: “I don’t know.
132
I’m sorry that I can’t help you.
133
Why do you need to know?”
134
Mr. Y: “My wife is ill and needs to see a doctor.
135
But, don’t worry, it is not so serious.
136
I am sure she will feel better soon.
137
Do you like Hawaii?”
138
Peter: “In my opinion, it’s a wonderful place.
139
It’s very different from England.”
